Gallivan Transforms Its Business Landscape With Acquisition

Gallivan Corp. a landscape design, construction, and management firm in Troy, New York, has purchased Northern Landscape Services Inc. in Pownal, Vermont.

The price of the deal, which includes all the assets and real estate owned by Northern Landscape, was not disclosed. For now, the Vermont company will operate as Gallivan Corp. and Northern Landscape Services.

Brendan Gallivan, founder and president of Gallivan Corp., said all 15 employees of Northern will be retained, and he expects to add at least 10 more workers in the near term. There are 70 employees in the landscape group at Gallivan’s Troy headquarters.

The vehicles, equipment and office space in Pownal will be upgraded as Gallivan Corp. prepares to expand its territory into Vermont and Massachusetts.

Northern Landscape’s territory extends to Manchester, Vermont, and into The Berkshires, an area in western Massachussetts that encompasses a number of wealthy communities, including Williamstown and Lenox, the site of well-known music venue Tanglewood.

Over the past two years, Gallivan has done extensive landscape design and build work in and around the outdoor dining area of Prime at Saratoga National, the restaurant at Saratoga National Golf Club in Saratoga Springs. Prime is one of the holdings of Mazzone Hospitality, the largest restaurant and catering group in the Capital Region. Earlier this year, a Gallivan crew built the 65-foot-long, 3-foot-high decorative wall of blue stone at the new Latham headquarters of B.A. Construction Services LLC.
